Back in 2014, French company Archos announced its first Windows Phone, the Archos 40 Cesium. The device maker offered the handset for an affordable price tag, which probably ensured pretty solid sales for it.

Now, the company is gearing up to show off a successor to Archos 40 Cesium at the IFA 2015 tradeshow, which is due to kick start in Berlin in a few days.

The Archos 50 Cesium will be teased during the event, but will not make it out on the market until November. At this point, we should note that the device is bound to ship out with Windows 10 Mobile out of the box, so the fact that it will be available starting this November gives us an idea about when Windows 10 Mobile will actually launch.

Anyway, when the Archos 50 Cesium hits the market, it will cost customers £99 in the UK and around $150 / €130 in the US. Like its predecessor, the Archos 50 Cesium doesn’t come equipped with mind-blowing specs, but they will still get you through the day.

Archos 50 Cesium specs roundup

The handset comes sporting a 5-inch display with 720 x 1280 pixel resolution and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor clocked at 1.1GHz under the hood, combined with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage (expandable, although we’re not told how far we can go). Archos also throws in an 8MP main camera plus a 2MP selfie shooter up in front.

The phone relies on a 2,100 mAh battery and brings LTE and dual SIM capabilities to the table.

Alongside the 50 Cesium, Archos also unveils the 50e Helium smartphone, which brings forth the same internal specifications but forfeits Windows 10 Mobile in favor of Android 5.1 Lollipop. The Archos 50e Helium will be sold for the same price tag as the 50 Cesium, so if Windows 10 Mobile isn’t your cup of tea, at least you know you have an alternate option.
