Apple Will Also Start Making the AirPods in India

It’s not a secret that Apple has been trying to reduce its reliance on Chinese production, and as part of the company’s latest move on this front, the firm is now asking suppliers to produce part of the AirPods and the Beats headphones in India.

Apple is already building some devices, including the iPhone, in India, so expanding the production should theoretically be just a matter of time.

Foxconn, for example, is already preparing to kick off the Beats in India, according to a report from Nikkei. At the same time, Foxconn is also optimistic that it could soon start building the AirPods at the local facilities, though an ETA as to when this could start.

Furthermore, Luxshare, which currently makes the AirPods in Vietnam in China, is also expected to begin the Indian production of the device. But on the other hand, a decision on this front hasn’t been made just yet.

The new AirPods Pro

Apple has recently announced a new-generation AirPods Pro model, with the device featuring substantial audio quality improvements and extended battery life that can reach up to 30 hours per charge.

“Built into a lightweight and compact body, the power of the new H2 chip provides an exceptional acoustic experience and cancels up to twice as much noise over the previous generation AirPods Pro. With a new low-distortion audio driver and custom amplifier, AirPods Pro now offer richer bass and crystal-clear sound across a wider range of frequencies. Since the best audio experience isn’t complete without a great in-ear fit, a new extra small ear tip is included so even more people can experience the magic of AirPods Pro,” Apple explains.

For the time being, it’s not known if Apple’s Indian strategy also includes the new-generation AirPods Pro or not, but more information on this front should emerge soon rather than later.
