The company tries to get ready more iPhone 13 units

Apple is working around the clock on aligning the production of the iPhone 13 with the existing demand, as it’s not a secret that waiting times have reached up to a month in some regions.

While this seems to suggest that the demand for the iPhone 13 is strong, it could also indicate another problem: Apple can’t produce the necessary inventory for its new devices, and this could obviously happen for multiple reasons.

One of them is the global chip shortage that’s wreaking havoc in so many industries, as the production of the iPhone could also be impacted by the lack of chips.

But according to a recent report from Digitimes, the Cupertino-based tech giant is trying various approaches to deal with the whole thing, and one solution that Tim Cook is ready to give the go-ahead to is prioritizing the production of the iPhone 13.

iPhone 12 and iPhone 11 still available

In other words, Apple wants more chips for the iPhone 13 and fewer for older models – the company keeps selling some older iPhones as well, so in theory, it wants to reduce this inventory and expand the one of its latest-generation models.

Of course, Apple wouldn’t say a single thing about all these problems, so the whole thing is happening under the hood, where partners like TSMC are now seeing increased orders for the iPhone 13 and scaled down demand for older-generation iPhones.

In addition to the iPhone 13, Apple is also selling some older models, including iPhone 12, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 mini, and even the iPhone SE 2. The good news for the company is that its September event marked the demise of several previous-generation iPhones, including iPhone XR, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max, so right now, the company seems to be betting almost all-in on the new iPhone 13.
