Apple will announce the new iPhone 12 series on October 13, according to people close to the matter, and by the looks of things, the company wants the device to go on sale faster in some specific markets.

One of them is South Korea, which is Samsung’s very own domestic market, as Apple reportedly wants the iPhone 12 to go on sale in the country earlier than usual in an attempt to counter the growth of Samsung models.

Since the latest iPhone launched in the fall of the last year, Samsung released two different high-end models, namely the Galaxy S20 and the Note20 lineups.

As a result, Apple wants the iPhone 12 to go on sale in Korea as fast as possible, thus making sure that its device remains relevant in the country.

What’s more, South Korea is one of the largest 5G markets, and Apple is betting big on such capabilities for the new-generation iPhone. It’s believed that all iPhones going live this year would feature 5G support, though some people familiar with Apple’s plans claim that the smallest of them would actually come with 4G exclusively.

Four new models launching this year

Apple will launch four different iPhone models this year, as it follows:

  • 5.4-inch all-new iPhone called iPhone 12 mini
  • 6.1-inch iPhone successor to iPhone 11 called iPhone 12
  • 6.1-inch iPhone successor to iPhone 11 Pro called iPhone 12 Pro
  • 6.7-inch iPhone successor to iPhone 11 Pro Max called iPhone 12 Pro Max

The devices could be announced officially on October 23, and as per Apple’s typical calendar, they could go up on pre-order the very next Friday. A week later, the new models could finally go on sale for everyone in Apple stores and at company partners in the largest markets.
