During the October 30 Apple Special Event in New York, Brooklyn, Apple released the new MacBook Air with a 13-inch Retina display and the Touch ID and Apple T2 Security Chip for quick unlocking and simple authentication.

Apple's new MacBook Air features the powerful eighth-generation Intel Core i5 processor with built-in Intel UHD Graphics and the fast 2133 MHz RAM that can be expanded up to 16 GB.

The MacBook Air also features SSD drives with capacities of up to 1.5 TB, tested to be more than 60 percent faster than previous generations and to allow users to open documents and launch apps quicker than ever before.

Moreover, the 13.3-inch Retina display comes with a resolution of roughly 4 million pixels making it the best screen to view crisp and striking looking images and text.

Furthermore, the new Retina display comes with 48% more color than the previous Retina model, allowing for a lot better image quality in all circumstance and lighting conditions.

MacBook Air now also comes with an in-built FaceTime HD camera designed as the ultimate camera for Group FaceTime calls, coupled with a three microphone array which provides the best possible sound quality for communicating with Siri and for making calls.

The new MacBook Air is available on apple.com today, with prices starting at $1,199

MacBook Air's Touch ID sensor is now coupled with the Apple T2 Security Chip and is built within the keyboard for fast authentication and unlocking, as well as for making secure purchases using the Apple Pay digital wallet and mobile payment service.

As detailed by Apple in their press release, the T2 Security Chip comes with an always-on processor that makes using “Hey Siri” a breeze given that it will always be in standby waiting for your voice commands.

The MacBook Air keyboard is a third-generation Apple-designed keyboard with individually backlit keys, coupled with a 20% larger Apple Force Touch trackpad that comes with support for haptic feedback and pressure-sensing capabilities.

When it comes to connectivity, the MacBook Air features two Thunderbolt 3 ports that make it possible to transfer data either via Thunderbolt or USB, and connect to a vast array of devices from external storage, eGPU graphics cards, to 4K and 5K displays and docks.

The new MacBook Air is available for order today on apple.com, starting at $1,199 and it will be made available in Apple retail stores and through Apple Authorized Resellers starting Wednesday, November 7.
