Apple is planning to launch a new iPhone SE in the first months of 2022, with a new report indicating the company is already working around the clock to get suppliers ready for this big moment.

More specifically, the company wants to make sure it has the necessary device inventory to support the launch, so it’s now working with partners to make sure everything is working as planned.

The new iPhone SE is projected to launch in the first half of 2022, Digitimes reveals, and based on Apple’s previous announcements, it should see the daylight in March or April.

The new iPhone SE model

Apple’s 2022 iPhone SE wouldn’t come with significant changes over the previous model, and people familiar with the matter previously said there’s a good chance the same design would be retained.

In other words, the 2022 iPhone SE will continue to look like the old-fashioned iPhone 8, with a Touch ID sensor below the screen. The device will still sport a 4.7-inch display, possibly LCD.

Previously, it’s been rumored Apple considered moving the iPhone SE to the iPhone XR form factor, and this would have made more sense given such an approach allowed for the device to also be upgraded with Face ID. Sticking with the iPhone 8 design means the new iPhone SE will only sport Touch ID as the only biometrics authentication method.

Most likely, the revamped iPhone SE model will come with 5G support, as all new models include such capabilities. A faster processor and an improved camera are also likely to make their way to the new iPhone SE.

Apple has so far remained tight-lipped on everything related to the iPhone SE, but given we’re only a few months away from its unveiling, expect more tidbits to make the headlines rather sooner than later.
