The iPhone SE seems to be very successful in China

Early sales pointed to quite a successful debut for the 4-inch iPhone SE, and while Apple remains tight-lipped on how well the new model is selling, more information comes from China, where companies such as Huawei and Xiaomi are already recording lower sales because of the new iPhone.

A report coming from DigiTimes reveals that Chinese and Taiwanese suppliers are already slowing down parts manufacturing for companies such as Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo because of the increasing demand of iPhone SE, which is believed to be stealing their users.

The iPhone SE is selling impressively well in China, where Apple received no less than 3.4 million pre-orders and is expected to continue growing until the arrival of iPhone 7 in September.

iPhone SE hardware for the win

The main reason for more people choosing the iPhone SE over a device manufactured by Chinese companies is the hardware available on the 4-inch Apple device, as customers are more inclined to purchase this phone rather products developed by the likes of Huawei and Xiaomi.

The iPhone SE comes with the same A9 and M9 processors found on the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, the same rear-facing camera, as well as a fingerprint reading sensor and front-facing camera from the original iPhone 6. Furthermore, it runs the latest version of iOS but lacks support for 3D Touch, the new pressure sensitive screen feature introduced by Apple on the 6s.

Without a doubt, more people are looking into Apple products just because of the brand value, and this is why Chinese companies are losing some ground. This doesn’t necessarily mean that their products are worse than Apple's, but Cupertino has always excelled in terms of marketing in large markets, whereas Chinese firms are still struggling to fight the “made in China” tag that’s often associated with poor quality, but which is no longer valid these days.
