No information on what is included though

Apple has just shipped a mysterious Apple AirTag update, and as compared to the previous releases, the new build comes without any changelog.

In other words, while the AirTag should totally be updated to the latest firmware, we know nothing about what’s included, so most likely, the Cupertino-based tech giant has focused mostly on bug fixes and other smaller refinements.

The new firmware update brings the AirTag firmware version to build 2A36.

In the meantime, the Cupertino-based tech giant is still facing criticism for the way some people misuse the AirTag. The GPS tracker has become worryingly popular among criminals, especially as they use the device to stalk people without them knowing about it.

Given the small form factor, the AirTag can be hidden pretty much anywhere, including behind license plates or right in the pocket, making it pretty difficult for the victim to spot it.

Apple does provide a series of protections to help prevent such nefarious uses of the AirTag, including notifications that are displayed on iPhones when a GPS tracker is nearby.

“If any AirTag, AirPods, or other Find My network accessory separated from its owner is seen moving with you over time, you'll be notified in one of two ways. These features were created specifically to discourage people from trying to track you without your knowledge,” Apple explains.

“To alert people nearby, any AirTag separated for a period of time from its owner will emit a sound when it's moved. If you find an AirTag after hearing it make a sound, you can use any device that has NFC, such as an iPhone or Android phone, to see if its owner marked it as lost and if you can help return it. If you feel that this AirTag or Find My network accessory might be tracking people without their consent, you can get instructions on how to disable it.”
