iPhone 12 suddenly stops working with some wireless chargers

iPhone 12 is already here, and it comes with several notable improvements, but on the other hand, it looks like it suffers from issues that nobody could see coming.

One of them affects the wireless charging, which for some reason is malfunctioning on the iPhone 12, as the device just stops working with certain chargers.

In theory, an iPhone no longer recognizing a specific charger is something that could be caused by Apple itself blocking certain accessories, only that this doesn’t seem to be the case here.

As some iPhone 12 discovered the hard way, the smartphone is initially working correctly with a specific wireless charging until it doesn’t. There’s absolutely no change that could break down the wireless charging on the iPhone, and users claim rebooting the device sometimes help, sometimes it doesn’t.

So at first glance, this doesn’t seem to be a change on Apple’s side, which means it’s the iPhone the one that’s malfunctioning and which for some reason refuses to work with certain wireless chargers.

Fix on its way, it seems

Apple has so far remained completely tight-lipped on this problem, yet according to a new report, the company is aware of the whole thing and is working to resolve it as we speak.

“We are working on this and it will be resolved in upcoming days. We have been going through the issues which customers are facing. It will be resolved soon,” an Apple support engineer told a customer struggling with this problem.

On the other hand, it’s important to keep in mind the support staff doesn’t always have access to first-hand information, so for now, you’d better not hold your breath for this fix. It remains to be seen if the next iOS update resolves this wireless charging glitch on the iPhone 12.
