From time to time, Apple publishes so-called success stories whose purpose is specifically to highlight how certain companies are using their products to completely overhaul their businesses.

The latest such story includes details of the migration to iPhone and iPad made by United Airlines, as the organization deployed no more, no less than 120,000 Apple devices.

The Cupertino-based tech giant says the transition to iPhones and iPads helped not only the airline itself but also passengers, as its devices helped saved no less than 13 million passenger minutes from delays.

“United Airlines connects millions of people to the places and moments that matter most. The company recognizes that its employees are the key to making those connections happen,” Apple explains.

“With iPhone and iPad, all of United’s 85,000 employees are fully mobile and empowered to be their most effective — making tasks simpler to complete, communication easier, and flying more enjoyable for customers. And United employees participate in the ideation and development of iPad and iPhone custom apps, demonstrating United’s belief that inclusion propels innovation. This has enabled employees to come up with new solutions to improve travel and put customer service first.”

One of the most innovative uses of Apple products comes down to pilots.

With the help of iPads, they have created the Electronic Flight Bag, which includes apps that collect information in the cockpit, therefore making it possible to step away from traditional papers and manuals.
