Glassdoor chart shows Tim Cook ranks better this year

Glassdoor has announced this year’s figures for the highest-rated CEOs around the world, and the chart brings in a few surprises, including a better position for Apple’s Tim Cook.

Specifically, Bob Bechek of Bain & Company continues to be the leading CEO, according to these new stats, with an approval rating of 99 percent, followed by Scott Scherr of Ultimate Software and Dominic Barton of McKinsey & Company.

Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg is fourth in the charts with an approval rating of 97 percent while Google’s Sundar Pichai is seventh with 96 percent. Apple CEO Tim Cook has managed to improve its ranking by 2 positions, so he’s now the eight name in the charts with a rating of 96 percent.

Where’s Satya Nadella?

Microsoft’s Satya Nadella, the third CEO in the history of the company after Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer, is nowhere to be seen in the top 50 - it’s worth mentioning that position 50 goes to Calvin McDonald from Sephora with an approval rating of 92 percent.

This means that Satya Nadella has a rating below this threshold, although it’s not hard to imagine that he’s clearly behind all these CEOs, given the cost-cutting measures and the layoffs that the software giant has resorted to in the last couple of years, after the company purchased Nokia’s Devices and Services unit.

What’s odd, however, is that Glassdoor’s Microsoft page lists Satya Nadella with an approval rating of 93 percent, but somehow the software giant’s CEO hasn’t made this year’s top 50.

These statistics are based on reviews provided by company employees, so although they could be subjective, they rely on the experience that workers of each firm have or had. Glassdoor is thus trying to determine not only the best CEO but also the best company to work for every year, a top that has lately been dominated by technology giants such as Google and Facebook.
