And it’s all thanks to the modern design that it ships with

The new-generation iPhone SE launched this year is specifically created to appeal to those who want a smaller iPhone, despite increasing the size of the smallest iPhone from 4 inches to 4.7 inches.

Using the body of the iPhone 8, the 2020 iPhone SE comes with an unbeatable $399 price tag, and this obviously helps convince plenty of users to upgrade.

But on the other hand, those who want a small iPhone and are ready to spend more might be in for a little surprise later this year.

And it’s because Apple’s iPhone 12 lineup also includes a 5.4-inch model that could take so many by surprise.

Bigger screen, smaller body

On paper, the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 obviously looks bigger than the 4.7-inch 2020 iPhone SE, but this is only the size of the screen, not of the device itself. And in reality, this iPhone 12 model could end up being smaller than the new iPhone SE, all thanks to the modern design that it uses.

The iPhone X-inspired design, with a notch and everything (as a matter of fact, the notch is expected to be smaller on the new-generation iPhone models), allows for the removal of the home button, something that eats up a lot of space on the iPhone SE and adds extra bezel space that has already been ditched on modern iPhones.

A video published by EverythingApplePro and comparing a 3D printed version of the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 (based on a CAD design) with the 2020 iPhone SE shows that the first could actually be a little bit smaller despite actually coming with a larger screen.

Whether or not customers looking for a small iPhone are willing to spend more to have a few millimeters chopped off the phone is something that will certainly be interesting to watch.
