Android is far behind while Windows is nowhere to be seen

We live in an era when almost every teenager out there has a phone, and it goes without saying that just as it happens for the rest of the market, Android and iOS are fighting for supremacy.

But according to a study conducted by Piper Jaffray (via CNET), there’s no such competition between the two because Apple has already won the battle and it has done it in a pretty easy manner.

The survey, which is performed every six months and updated with new data to be more accurate, reveals that teenagers are still pretty much into Apple these days, so the iPhone is undoubtedly the best of the best right now.

iPhone vs. Android devices

Out of the 6,500 teens involved in the research, 69 percent said they already have an iPhone, which is quite surprising, given the fact that the average age in the study was 16.5. This score represents a 1 percent increase over the figures recorded six months ago, so despite the small decline in iPhone sales, Apple has actually managed to grow among young buyers.

75 percent of the respondents claimed they want their next phone to be an iPhone, which also shows that all these figures could increase even more in the next six months.

‘So where’s Android?’ you could ask. Only 19 percent of teenagers look at Android for their next phone, so the new Galaxy S7 is considered more of an old man’s phone.

As far as tablets are concerned, 48 percent of the teenagers said they already own an iPad while half of them revealed that they want one as their next tablet. Only 14 percent of them are said to be looking at Android tablets for the next purchase.

Windows Phone is nowhere to be seen, and teenagers clearly think of the iPhone and Android devices as their only options for the moment. The only good news for Microsoft is that 19 percent of those interested in buying a new tablet are planning to give Surface a chance.
