According to Apple-connected Ming-Chi Kuo analyst

Let's forget for a moment that tomorrow Apple is supposed to launch its new flagship iPhone models and let's talk about what will happen next year with their smartphone line.

As reported by AppleInsider, KGI Securities' Ming Chi-Kuo wrote in his latest note to investors that Apple plans to take the iPhone even further next year by launching a 6-mm-thin new model.

This isn't a far-fetched supposition considering the latest iPod Touch devices already come with a 6.1-mm-thick case and losing another millimeter shouldn't be that big of a problem for Apple's engineering and design teams.

New case design and tougher aluminum alloy body

Together with the new blade-like case, the new iPhone 7 should also be made out of Series 7000 aluminum alloy, the same material rumors say the new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus will be made of.

More importantly, keeping in line with their iPhone releases in the last few years, Apple should also tweak the iPhone 7 case to make sure that the new smartphone has enough original features to be easily differentiated from the older models.

Moreover, such a move is expected taking into account that the only iPhone models that haven't had a facelift in the past were the ones with an "s" added to their name, in our case the new iPhones rumored to be released during the September 9 "Hey Siri" event.

Upgraded processor and a more than plausible 4K-capable camera

Apart from a slimmer body, the iPhone 7 spec list is pretty scarce, but if Apple wants to keep their customers interested, they should at least upgrade the hypothetical A9 processor in the iPhone 6s to be launched to an A10 architecture, as well as upgrade the main camera with a sensor capable of recording 4K resolution videos.

Furthermore, upgrading the main camera with a sensor capable of recording 4K resolution videos could be a plausible improvement, given that they've upgraded the resolution of the 27-inch iMac to a whopping 5K, and rumors say that a 21-inch iMac with a 4K screen is also on its way.

Hence, it's only fair to assume that they would want their smartphones to have the ability to record video content on par with their Macs' displays.

These specs coupled with the latest iOS 9 release should keep everyone happy until the 7s release when the guys from 1 Infinite Loop in Cupertino will release a brawnier version of the iPhone 7.

Until the iPhone 7 makes its appearance, you can still watch a video presenting an iPhone 7 concept created by Yasser Farahi.
