The company tells users to reset their devices

Apple launched both iOS 14 and watchOS 7 with much fanfare last month, and the company had every reason in the world to do it, as the two updates come with massive improvements and changes.

But at the same time, they both come with a series of bugs too, and iPhones and Apple Watch models updated to the new software releases ended up struggling with various issues.

For example, some devices are missing activity or health data, while others hit GPS problems due to the new software update.

And while everybody expected Apple to come up with a fix in the next software update, the company proposes a completely different set of workarounds. Among them a full reset of your devices.

How to fix all these issues

First and foremost, the Apple Watch. Apple says that what you should try is unpairing your smartwatch from the iPhone, which is essentially a full reset of the device. The good news is that a backup should be created automatically, so theoretically, you’re not losing anything.

However, given how long it takes for the Apple Watch to reset and then complete the initial setup experience, make sure you have a few hours for the whole thing.

On the iPhone, the best way to go, Apple says, is to “erase all content and settings from the iPhone.” While this could indeed fix the said issues, it’s pretty clear this isn’t really the most convenient workaround, even if a backup has previously been created.

As for a full fix that could be released to users in a coming update, no word on this has been provided. So for now, the only thing we can do is either fully reset the devices or keep our fingers crossed for Apple to come up with a patch sooner or later.
