14 DAY TRIAL // In a quiet move, Apple has started to push out a firmware update for AirPods, which brings some undisclosed bug fixes, according to Apple Insider.
Apple AirPods firmware 3.5.1 is available for users and the update installs automatically to AirPods when they are in their charging case, which is plugged into a charger and linked to the iPhone. In order for the update to be downloaded, users must make sure they have their iPhones connected to a WiFi network.
There’s also an option for checking the installed firmware revision in the General settings section and selecting the About category, then AirPods. It seems that the update comes with miscellaneous minor bug fixes, but more details weren’t provided.
Some AirPods users have been experiencing issues with connectivity
Recently, AirPods users have started reporting some connectivity issues with the wireless headphones, with Bluetooth connection suddenly dropping during phone calls, but not during audio playback. It’s unclear if the latest update fixes this issue or not.
It seems that the issue was reported only by some users, who said connectivity would drop on a frequent basis, every minute or hour for some. The problem occurred mostly with iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, while only a few iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus users experienced it.
In addition, other users claimed they experienced battery drain issues with the AirPods and the charging case. The battery inside the AirPods case would drop 40% after just a few hours. Hopefully, Apple managed to fix some issues with the latest update.
AirPods have been quite popular among iPhone users since their launch, but they’re only offered in black. A company from the US allows customers to bring in their white AirPods and have them painted in black. The waiting list for directly purchasing black AirPods is quite long, but even white AirPods are hard to come by.
