watchOS 8.4.1 is now available for download for some

Apple rolled out watchOS 8.4 only a few days ago, but the company has now returned with what appears to be an urgent bug-fixing release for its smartwatch.

watchOS 8.4.1 is therefore available for download right now, but before you rush to your iPhone to download the software update, you’d better read this.

It looks like the update is only available for the Apple Watch Series 4 and later, so some devices aren’t getting the new version. It’s not exactly clear why only some models are getting it, as Apple only claims that this update includes bug fixes for newer models.

In other words, Apple most likely corrected a problem only in some of its latest smartwatches, but of course, the company doesn’t want to let us know what that problem actually is.

Needless to say, if the new software version showed up on your device, you’d better install it as soon as possible, especially because it helps fix this mysterious bug that Apple doesn’t want to talk about.

New beta also available

As for watchOS 8.4, this one is already up for grabs for everybody with a supported Apple Watch. The new version includes welcome bug fixes that improve the charging experience with third-party chargers, so in case you have such an accessory, everything should work properly after installing the latest update.

In the meantime, Apple is also working on watchOS 8.5, as the beta has already been released to the first testers out there. For the time being, however, this too is a mysterious update, not only because Apple hasn’t shared any changelog for the first beta but also because those who already installed it didn’t notice anything big so far.

At this point, there’s no ETA as to when the next major watchOS update could land in the stable channel.
