A new beta is now available for developers

Apple continues the work on a new iOS 15 update, so today, the company rolled out another beta (currently available for developers, but a public beta is expected to go live for all testers sooner rather than later).

iOS 15.5 beta 3 is therefore available for download right now for developers, and at first glance, it doesn’t include any major changes from the previous release.

This somehow makes sense given Apple is working on ironing out the reported glitches, but the more users install this beta, the more we’ll find out about what’s hiding under the hood.

At this point, there’s no ETA as to when iOS 15.5 could go live for all production iPhones, but this will most likely happen next month. Of course, several other betas must go live in the meantime before this happens.

What’s new in iOS 15.5?

It goes without saying that iOS 15.5 itself is a major release for iPhone users, as it introduces additional functionality for the supported devices.

For example, it comes with support for apps with external purchases, as well as a series of Wallet improvements that are still currently being refined.

And while Apple is working around the clock on preparing the release of iOS 15.5, the closer we get to June, the bigger the excitement in the iPhone userbase. This is the month when Apple will be holding its annual WWDC developer event, and as it typically happens during this show, the company is expected to release the very first preview of iOS 16.

This is the next major operating system update for the iPhone, and as per Apple’s typical calendar, it should go live for the supported devices in September.

A beta build, however, will become available for testing after WWDC, so at that point, we’ll know for sure if this new major update is worth the wait or not.
