Apple has just released a new beta build of iOS 15.5, this time only for developers (though the public beta should go live any day now).

iOS 15.5 beta 2 doesn’t come with a changelog right now, but it’s safe to assume Apple has been specifically focused on further polishing the experience with the first beta and resolving the bugs in the original release.

iOS 15.5 will come with some changes for the Wallet app, including the addition of new request and sed buttons for Apple Cash. Interestingly, Apple Pay has also been renamed to Apple Cash in the Messages app.

At this point, it’s not yet known when iOS 15.5 could be shipped to production devices, but this is likely to happen next month.

iOS 16 preview

While Apple is giving the finishing touches to another iOS 15 update, many people out there are already looking forward to the next major operating system release due later this year.

iOS 16 will obviously introduce much more significant improvements, and while its debut is supposed to happen in September, Apple will provide us with a preview at the WWDC event in a few weeks.

Furthermore, an early beta build of iOS 16 will also ship after WWDC, as Apple will therefore be able to further polish the operating system update before the production launch.

Little is known right now about what’s to come in iOS 16, but people with knowledge of the matter said Apple might finally ditch support for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. In other words, only the iPhone 7 and newer will receive iOS 16, though this is something that remains to be confirmed.

For the time being, Apple is still focusing on improving the experience with iOS 15, so if you want to try out all these improvements early, just wait a little bit longer until the public beta lands.
