These could be the last betas before the GM lands next week

We’re already counting the days left until Apple takes the wraps off the iPhone 8 on September 12, but the company is still working at full speed on getting iOS 11 ready, as the new operating system will power all new iPhone models by default and will also become available for everyone else this month.

As a result, Cupertino has just rolled out iOS 11 developer beta 9 and public beta 8, both of which can be downloaded right now by devs and users who are enrolled in Apple’s beta program.

Since we’re so close to the moment iOS 11 is projected to become widely available to all users, the new iOS 11 betas don’t bring any breaking changes, as the focus right now is on fixing bugs and improving performance before everyone gets the operating system update.

Only iOS and tvOS betas this time

As compared to previous beta releases, Apple has released new versions only for iOS and tvOS this week, with both macOS High Sierra and watchOS left behind this time. There’s a chance Apple ships new betas for these platforms later today or next week, as the company also needs to get these two ready for the September 12 event.

At the company’s fall event, Apple will also unveil a new-generation Apple Watch powered by watchOS 4, as well as a new-generation 4K Apple TV, so getting the new versions of their operating systems ready for launch is clearly a priority right now.

IF everything goes according to the plan and no major bugs are found in the meantime, iOS 11 should hit GM next week, just to be ready for public launch on September 15. This is the date when iOS 11 could become available for all supported iPhones, iPads, and iPods, and at the same time, the day when Apple could start taking pre-orders for the new-generation iPhones.
