New beta builds are now available for everyone

Apple has just released two new public beta builds for iPhone and iPad users, as the company continues testing the next operating system update.

iOS 13.4.5 and iPadOS 13.4.5 public betas are thus available for download right now for all supported devices.

Since it’s just a minor update, there’s no major change in this new release, albeit Apple does include a new feature to share songs and albums directly from Apple Music to contacts using Facebook and Instagram. Given Apple’s increased focus on Apple Music, this is clearly a welcome feature, albeit overall, it’s really not something to be super-excited about.

Like the majority of betas, the focus is on the under-the-hood improvements and additional optimizations, so there’s really not much to discover in this update.

No major new features until iOS 14

Apple’s next iOS 13 updates are expected to be rather small, with the Cupertino-based tech giant to focus exclusively on refining the performance and polishing the experience with iPhones and iPads.

This is because there won’t be any iOS 13.5 update, so Apple will just stick with incremental updates to the existing iOS 13.4. As a result, given Apple will just continue to ship iOS 13.4.x updates, the next highly-anticipated release is iOS 14, which according to the company’s typical calendar, is projected to go live in the fall.

A preview of the new mobile operating system would be presented at the WWDC in June, and as usual, a beta build is expected shortly after the show.

The stable version, however, will go live in September, as Apple typically rolls out new iOS versions just after it introduces a new iPhone generation.

For now, no confirmation exists on this software release calendar, so take all these details with a healthy pinch of salt.
