Analyst says a new battery board would be used

The new iPhone 12 generation is almost here, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that Apple has already finalized all details of the upgraded devices.

More specifically, the Cupertino-based tech giant seems to have a hard time finding a way to reduce the manufacturing cost of the new iPhones, especially because the company is adding 5G support across the entire lineup.

In other words, Apple is adding 5G on the new iPhones, which means that the costs with making the device will be higher than on the previous generations. Apple, however, doesn’t want to increase the price of the new models, but at the same time, it also tries to maintain its profit margin, so the company just needs to find a way to keep the production cost at the same level as before.

And according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the company might have found a way to do the whole thing, as it plans to use a simpler and smaller battery board on the iPhone 12.

Launch in September or October

The new design, it seems, would allow a cost cut of up to 50 percent, and Apple wants to continue this approach in 2021 when another 40 percent drop is expected for the battery board.

Of course, Apple won’t stop here. Previously, it’s been rumored that Apple could even remove the charger from the iPhone 12 box, which essentially means that the iPhone could be the only thing that you’ll get.

The bad news is that unless you already have a dedicated charger or a wireless charger, you’ll have to purchase a brick separately, which comes with its very own cost. So technically, Apple has transferred the cost increase to customers only to maintain its profit margin.

Full details on the iPhone 12 should be revealed in a month or two when Apple takes the wraps off the new device.
