14 DAY TRIAL // Renders created from CAD files supposedly portraying the iPhone 8 have just surfaced over at Engadget, revealing the design and some of the features found on Apple’s most exciting iPhone of the year. The images show a glass back on the iPhone 8 and incorporated wireless charging technology.
The renders show the iPhone 8 from a plenitude of angles, including the front and rear. The back panel appears to have an area that seems a bit carved out, presumably for housing the wireless charging coil. Moreover, the back of the phone is covered in glass, giving the new iPhone 8 a more fluid look while also allowing wireless charging to fill up its battery.
Another detail is the vertical rear camera, while the report mentions that it will be accompanied by a flash and a microphone. This vertical camera model could be featured on other iPhone models, which means that the iPhone 7s Plus could also come with such a system.
Moreover, the report seems to suggest that the 4.7-inch screen size on the iPhone 7s has increased to 5 inches, while the iPhone 7s Plus will have a 5.8-inch display, thus confirming that Apple will announce three new smartphones this year.
Touch ID is placed at the bottom of the display
The front panel depicted in the iPhone 8 renders seems to have the Touch ID placed at the bottom of the display. While it looks like an actual physical home button, it seems that the Touch ID is actually flush with the glass.
Two camera modules are visible on the front, in the top left corner of the phone. One of the sensors could be the selfie camera, while the other could actually be the highly rumored 3D sensing system for facial recognition or a 3D laser scanning module.
Sadly, the renders don’t clearly confirm the rumored edge-to-edge display on the iPhone and actual dimensions for the phone weren’t released, although it does appear to be taller, wider and thicker than the iPhone 7. The report doesn’t exclude the possibility that the renders could be false or that Apple may have chosen a different design.
