A new major iOS update is now live for everyone

Apple has just released one of the biggest iOS updates since the debut of iOS 15 the last fall. iOS 15.4 is therefore available for download right now, coming with an impressive set of goodies for the supported iPhones out there.

Without a doubt, the star of the show is the support for Face ID with a mask.

This means that users can now unlock their iPhone with the facial recognition system even if they are wearing a face mask, something that comes in incredibly handy given the times we’re currently living.

While some might think this new feature lands a little bit too late, Apple obviously took its time to make sure everything is working as accurate as possible, especially because there’s a good chance many people out there would try to test its limits and see if it can be bypassed in any way.

Other features in this new update

Of course, Face ID working with a mask isn’t the only goodie coming in iOS 15.4.

Users are also getting a new Siri voice, as well as support for questions regarding the time and the date even when an Internet connection is not available. Universal Control, a feature that makes it possible for users to drag and drop files between iPads and Mac computers, is also making its debut in this update, and so is the option to scan text directly into a file in the Notes app.

iOS 15.4 is available on all devices that support iOS 15, including the iPhone 6s and newer. Of course, the ability to use Face ID with a mask and also get Apple Pay functionality isn’t available for everybody, as Apple is limiting this extra capability to the iPhone 12 and newer.
