The venue will take place on March 8, Apple confirms

Apple has recently announced its highly-anticipated spring event, confirming the venue would take place on March 8 under the he “peek performance” tagline.

The company hasn’t offered any specifics as to what we should expect at the show, but without a doubt, one of the new models that will be introduced on March 8 is the 2022 overhaul of the iPhone SE.

The new iPhone SE

We’ve known for a while this was coming, and according to people familiar with the matter, the new iPhone SE wouldn’t be the dramatic overhaul so many people are waiting for.

This is because Apple isn’t willing to give up on the iPhone 8 form factor just yet, so the new iPhone SE will look just like its predecessor. In other words, it would still come with a 4.7-inch LCD display, a Home button with an integrated fingerprint sensor and without a notch.

This means the device wouldn’t feature Face ID either, as Apple seems to focus mostly on upgrades under the hood, while sticking with the iPhone 8 body.

The device will therefore come with a new-generation Apple Bionic chip, as well as with 5G support. With this new refresh, Apple’s entire iPhone lineup will sport 5G capabilities.

In addition, the new iPhone SE will offer upgraded cameras, though it will stick with a single-lens setup given the iPhone 8-inspired design.

People familiar with the matter suggested the current iPhone SE could stick around for a little longer with a $199 price tag, therefore giving Apple the opportunity to expand in the budget device market as well. However, this is something that sounds rather unusual for a company like Apple, especially as the Cupertino-based tech giant has always bragged about the premium recipe its models are based on.
