Report claims iPhone 12 mini sales are still weak

Apple launched the iPhone 12 mini last year as the smallest version of its new smartphone lineup, and needless to say, the Cupertino-based tech giant used all kinds of big words to describe the new device.

And yet, this doesn’t necessarily mean people out there have been impressed with the mini, and a recent report revealed that Apple has even lowered the production of this particular model because of the weak demand.

Instead, people familiar with the matter said, Apple redirected its production capacity to the Pro models in the iPhone 12 lineup, all as a result of solid demand for the standard and the Max versions.

And now a new report coming from China indicates the iPhone 12 mini still hasn’t recovered and Apple isn’t at all pleased about how this device currently performances.

Goodbye, iPhone 12 mini?

And by the looks of things, Apple’s leadership team is so disappointed with the iPhone 12 mini that they consider stopping the production of this particular model as soon as this year.

In other words, the iPhone 12 mini that was launched with so much fanfare last year could get the ax in 2021, though there’s a chance the availability inventory would keep the device around for a little longer.

Needless to say, this is just a rumor for the time being and we shouldn’t take it for granted, but in the long term, such a decision could actually make sense.

Apple is believed to be working on another modern version of the iPhone SE, so bringing another affordable smartphone to the market could eventually cannibalize the iPhone 12 mini.

For now, a decision on the whole thing is yet to be made, but of course, don’t expect Apple to share any details when and if it decides to kill off the iPhone 12 mini.
