Android version of the app reportedly in the works

Apple isn’t necessarily the biggest fan of Android, and it’s not difficult to figure out why. However, while platforms like iMessage are very unlikely to ever land on Google’s mobile operating system, others should still go live on Android sooner rather than later.

One of them is none other than the Apple TV app.

Apple leakster ShrimpApplePro, who has a good track on Apple scoops, says the Cupertino-based tech giant is currently working on an Android version of the Apple TV app.

At this point, the app is reportedly in the works, but an ETA as to when it could go live for everybody out there isn’t yet available. However, the release should take place soon, so expect news on this front at some point in early 2023.

It’s not hard to see where Apple is aiming with an Android release of the Apple TV app.

With such a launch, Apple could make it a lot easier for Android users to connect to Apple TV+, the streaming service that’s already available on so many other non-Apple devices, including PlayStation consoles, Microsoft’s Xbox, and smart TVs from various makers.

At this point, an Android user who wants to connect to Apple TV+ needs to rely on the web-based interface available at tv.apple.com, but needless to say, the experience is kind of limited, so a dedicated app would make everything a lot more convenient and straightforward.

With the release of Apple TV on Android, the Cupertino-based iPhone maker would further expand the availability of the service, eventually hoping to convince more users to become a part of its ecosystem.

Needless to say, the company has remained completely tight-lipped on everything related to its plans for Android, so for the time being, we should just take everything with a healthy pinch of salt until some sort of confirmation is offered.
