Rumor has it Apple has reduced iPhone 12 mini production

Apple launched the iPhone 12 in October and November, and according to the company itself, all four models that got to see the daylight last year have been pretty successful.

But recent reports indicated that all iPhone models launch in 2020 are seeing strong demand, with the company said to reduce the production of the iPhone 12 mini and instead concentrate more resources towards the manufacturing of the iPhone 12 Pro.

And the reason is as simple as it could be: the mini isn’t selling exactly as strong as anticipated, while the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max are enjoying bigger demand.

So what Apple is trying to do is to just align the production with the demand, thus trying to build more Pros in an attempt to create the inventory it’d need to deal with all orders across the world.

New iPhone SE just around the corner

Apple’s Luca Maestri confirmed Apple struggled with some supply issues in December, but they are currently working on resolving them. And at the same time, Maestri admitted the Pro models are enjoying bigger demand right now.

“What we've seen so far, it's very early because we launched the new products only a few weeks ago. What we've seen so far is a very high level of interest for the Pro models, the Pro and the Pro Max. We worked very hard to ramp up our supply. We've had some supply constraints during the December quarter. We think we're going to be able to solve them during the March quarter. But so far, the mix has been very strong on iPhone,” he said.

In the meantime, Apple is also believed to be giving the finishing touches to a new and larger iPhone SE. This device could see the daylight in the spring at an even lower price point than the iPhone 12 mini.
