Or maybe he’s actually using a Samsung Galaxy S8+

Apple isn’t quite the kind of company that teases its products in anticipation of public launches, but there’s a chance that CEO Tim Cook has just provided us with an early look at the shape of the upcoming iPhone 8. Or at least, that’s what the Internet wants to believe.

Cook visited the production facilities of equipment supplier CTS in Cincinnati on Thursday, and to celebrate the occasion, he tweeted a photo showing him discussing with employees something that’s not particularly relevant to our story.

The more important is the bulge in his pants (no pun intended, seriously) as the outline of the phone in his pocket appears to point to a device that’s not yet available in Apple’s lineup.

So maybe it’s a Samsung Galaxy S8+

While we’re pretty sure that Tim Cook would never ever risk to accidentally reveal the iPhone 8 by taking the device to a public event, the thing that’s hiding in his pocket appears to be too narrow to be an iPhone 7 Plus, but at the same time, too big to be an iPhone 7.

Does this mean it’s the iPhone 8? It could be, though at this point this is just a wild guess and for what it’s worth, it could very well be a Samsung Galaxy S8+ because, from the outside, it certainly looks like one.

The iPhone 8 is expected to be just a little bit bigger than the iPhone 7, but offer substantially more screen space thanks to the narrow bezels it’s going to get. This means that in terms of design it could be very similar to the Samsung Galaxy S8, and that’s not at all surprising given that Samsung itself is in charge of manufacturing the OLED screens to be used on the iPhone 8.

All details about the iPhone 8 are projected to be announced in just a few weeks, most likely on September 12, if we are to trust a number of European carriers who have already been informed of the big date.
