14 DAY TRIAL // Apple launched the Apple Card and Apple Cash with much fanfare in the United States, but since then, the company has apparently made little progress in its attempt to bring these two products to non-US customers.
But now it looks like we’re getting closer to the moment the Apple Card and Apple Cash would become available to someone living in another country, as the two products have recently been trademarked in Canada, as per a recent report.
Of course, this isn’t by any means an indication that the launch is supposed to happen overnight, but at least, Apple has completed one big step towards this important milestone.
Apple applied for the trademarks back in July 2019, but the Canadian authorities only approved the application in January this year. So with a little luck, Apple could launch Apple Card in Canada later this year, though more specifics will obviously be provided by the company itself as we approach this moment.
No word on international launch
The Cupertino-based tech has never shared any specifics on its plans to launch Apple Card and Apple Cash in other countries, though for the U.S. market, it worked together with Goldman Sachs and Mastercard to make the whole thing possible.
“Apple is partnering with Goldman Sachs and Mastercard to provide the support of an issuing bank and global payments network. As a newcomer to consumer financial services, Goldman Sachs is creating a different credit card experience centered around the customer, which includes never sharing or selling data to third parties for marketing and advertising. Mastercard will provide cardholders the ability to shop at merchants around the globe,” Apple said in its official Apple Card announcement.
For the time being, the company has remained completely tight-lipped on everything related to the Apple Card, and don’t expect it to say a single word about the expansion to more countries until it’s ready.
