14 DAY TRIAL // There are lots of people out there whose dream is to become an employee of Apple or Microsoft, but according to a recent study, neither is among the best places to work.
An analysis published by Glassdoor and based on employees’ choice reveals that the best company to work for right now is Bain & Company, which has little to do with technology because it’s a management consulting firm. The company is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts.
On the other hand, Facebook is doing a lot better and is currently second in this chart, followed by another consulting firm called Boston Consulting Group and Google.
Apple and Microsoft far behind in the chart
In case you’re wondering where Apple and Microsoft actually are, you need to scroll down a lot because they’re only on position number 36 and 37, respectively.
Both have an employee rating of 4.2 and, ironically, one of the top comments in the case of Apple is titled “one of the best places to work.” The employee who posted this comment says Apple offers great pay and business, excellent healthcare benefits and work environment.
In the case of Microsoft, employees like the competitive salary, the good community involvement, the strong global presence and the great products.
What’s interesting is that the top-rated Bain & Company also has the highest rated CEO this year, as Bob Bechek received a 99 percent employee rating from employees. For what it’s worth, Apple CEO Tim Cook has a 94 percent employee approval rating, while Microsoft’s Satya Nadella is at 95 percent.
Facebook, on the other hand, which is currently the top-rated tech firm when it comes to the best places to work, has a CEO approval rating of no less than 98 percent, so Mark Zuckerberg is clearly quite popular among company employees.
