PCs keep a steady line while tablets drop and Apple soars

Once you get to know a thing or two about your desktop at home, you get to realize the immense processing power a desktop PC can have when compared to a measly tablet, well, unless it's an iPad.

Apparently, according to the latest survey from the American Customer Satisfaction Index, the consumer satisfaction with tablets went in a free fall this year, while desktops remained fairly strong. This does not reflect, however, the sales of tablets versus PC since that's a different story.

The reason for this is that smartphones are getting better and more powerful, while tablets always try to survive in a middle ground caught between PCs and mobiles, without reflecting either the extreme mobility of the first or the processing power of the second.

No other company can touch Apple except indie, up-and-coming start-ups

On a 100-point scale, ASCI benchmarks show that today, Apple leads customer satisfaction by far, with 84 points out of 100 and being seconded only by PC with 78 points while all the other major tablets and mobile computing brands lag behind tremendously, with Acer, amazingly, being the closest to PCs in the ASCI list.

However, there is the All Others row which, in fact, shows the greatest potential. With an 82 score, this aggregate comprises the new and upcoming companies that amazingly offer a much better customer satisfaction than anything below Apple.

However, Apple doesn't count anymore for the vast majority of tablets sold, since only 17% of all the 2,946 people surveyed across the United States own iPads, Apple continues to set the bar for the industry. And even though Intel tried hard in 2014 to impose itself in the tablet industry, most of those surveyed were still using tablets powered by Intel when this study came out, so that says something about Intel's customer satisfaction results.
