Electronic Arts has revealed the launch date for Anthem, the latest action role-playing game from Bioware that will be available for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

Anthem did not get a good start, mostly because it comes so close on the heels of Mass Effect: Andromeda, which is considered to be a flop. It was plagued by a number of technical problems, which affected the sales, and the developers and EA more or less abandoned the project soon after launch.

The fact that Anthem was announced quickly after Mass Effect: Andromeda did not help, nor the fact that it was promoted as a co-op game. In any case, now that E3 2018 is here we get some more information about the upcoming Anthem game, and there is some good news.

No micro-transactions

There is a problem when people are talking about loot boxes and micro-transactions instead of talking about the gameplay. This is just the case with Anthem. Even if new gameplay footage was released, and further information about the background story was revealed, a lot of the press conference was about the loot boxes and stuff like that.

In any case, no loot boxes doesn’t mean that people won’t be able to use real money in-game. Mark Darrah, an executive producer for Anthem said that there will be some vanity items available, although users will definitely know what they are spending their money on.

Also, according to GameInformer report, Bioware is also dropping romances from the gameplay. The studio merely says that it doesn’t fit with the game, not that it’s something that they are avoiding.

You can check out the new gameplay trailer below. As you can see, it’s still heavily focused on four player co-op. Anthem is now scheduled to be released on February 22, 2019, for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
