Does Microsoft even know when the new OS will be released?

Do you own a Lumia smartphone that's still stuck on Windows Phone 8.1 and can't wait to find out when Microsoft will roll out the highly anticipated Windows 10 Mobile update? We are as anxious as you are to find out when we will be able to upgrade our Lumia smartphones as well.

However, Microsoft is still mum on the exact release date of Windows 10 Mobile but keeps releasing preview builds to Windows Insiders.

As much as we don't want to assume that, it appears that Microsoft is still working hard to patch up the large amount of bugs in Windows 10 Mobile, which might be one of the reasons the company does not want to commit to a particular release date.

On a more positive note, it looks like carriers have already started to test Windows 10 Mobile.

They either know when Microsoft plans to release it and want to be among the first to offer it to their customers, or they have received these builds and want to be ready for when the Redmond-based company gives them the green light.

Vodafone Australia has recently confirmed that it now runs Windows 10 Mobile tests for no less than three Lumia smartphones, WMPU reports.

Five Lumia smartphones should receive the upgrade once it's ready

Customers of the Australian carrier that own the Lumia 630, Lumia 640, Lumia 640 XL, Lumia 730 and Lumia 930, might be among the first to receive the Windows 10 Mobile update if nothing wrong happens during tests.

It's worth mentioning that while Vodafone Australia is already running Windows 10 Mobile tests for the Lumia 630, Lumia 640 and Lumia 730, the tests for the other two smartphones (Lumia 640 XL and Lumia 930) have already been scheduled and will commence soon.

The only information that remains to be disclosed by the Australian carrier is the exact release date for these Windows 10 Mobile updates or at least some ETAs.
