Google released today the sixth and final beta of the upcoming Android Q (Android 10) mobile operating system for testing.

Android Q beta 6 is now available for all supported Pixel devices and the Android Emulator, containing the final API 29 SDK, as well as updated build tools for Android Studio to help developers get their Android apps ready for the soon-to-be-released Android 10 mobile operating system.

"Now is the time to make sure your apps are ready, before we bring the official release to consumers. Take this opportunity to finish up your testing and publish your app updates soon to give users a smooth transition to Android Q," said Dave Burke, VP of Engineering in a blog post.

For application developers, Android Q beta 6 includes all the final APIs, system behaviors, and features that Google will present in the final release of the Linux-powered mobile OS later this month. For users, Android Q beta 6 brings several new bug fixes and optimizations for a more stable experience.

One of the areas that has been optimized in Android Q beta 6 is the gesture navigation, based on the user feedback received by Google, which changes the Back gesture by implementing a 200dp vertical app exclusion limit. Additionally, Android Q beta 6 adds a sensitivity preference setting for the Back gesture.

Android Q is just a few weeks away

According to Google, the final release of its long-anticipated Android Q mobile operating system is only a few weeks away. As usual, Google releases new major versions of its Android OS in August, so we should see the launch of Android Q somtime later this month.

Until then, you can download the Android Q beta 6 right now on your Pixel devices by enrolling in the Android Q Beta Program. Existing users will only have to update their devices via OTA (Over-the-Air) updates. Users of other Android devices will also received the Android Q beta 6 in the coming weeks.
