Despite the fact that many analysts heralded Android One's demise, it looks like Google's project continues to produce smartphones.

Unlike the first devices launched in India, the new GM 5 Plus launched by General Mobile at MWC 2016 is a high-end smartphone.

Although the company did not announce the suggested retail price of the smartphone, it did say that it would not cost more than $300 outright.

GM 5 Plus will be available in Turkey at the end of March, but it will also be launched in 15 other European countries soon afterwards. It will sell in four different colors: gray, gold, rose gold and silver.

It's also worth mentioning that the smartphone will feature a metal frame, and only the texture of the back cover will be of a different color.

The new GM 5 Plus is not a flagship smartphone, but it definitely belongs to the high-end tier considering the specs confirmed by the Turkish handset maker.

A great Android One smartphone that could become popular in Europe

Since this is an Android One device, it will ship with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system right out of the box.

On the inside, the GM 5 Plus comes equipped with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor, paired with an Adreno 405 graphics processing unit, 3GB of RAM and no less than 32GB of storage that can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot.

The high-end smartphone sports a 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 4 coating.

At the back, there's a 13-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, dual-LED flash and video recording while in the front there's a similar 13-megapixel selfie camera with LED flash.

Another major selling point of the GM 5 Plus could be the USB Type-C port that has been included, along with the high-capacity 3,100 mAh battery that features Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology (charges the device up to 60% in just 30 minutes).
