The rollout of Windows 11 2022 Update is the perfect opportunity for Microsoft to expand the availability of Android apps on the desktop to more devices out there.

And in an announcement this week, the software giant reveals that the partnership with Amazon is bringing Android apps and games on the Windows 11 desktop in no more, no less than 31 countries, including France, Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Australia.

Microsoft says it’s working around the clock not only to expand the availability of Amazon Appstore to more regions but also with developers to make sure all apps run properly on Windows 11.

“To get started, simply head to the Microsoft Store on Windows app. We made it even simpler to discover Android apps and games. Like any other content, you will now find them in editorials and search results, you will see them in inline ratings and reviews, and you will be able to share a link to your favorite app with your friends,” Microsoft explains.

“The Windows Subsystem for Android™ (WSA) continues to get better each month thanks to developer feedback. In the latest release, you will enjoy 2-3 times faster graphic performance with hardware acceleration, DRM video support, improved input handling across touch, mouse and keyboard, and several network and security improvements.”

Rollout starting next month

Worth knowing, however, is that most Microsoft Store improvements would go live for users next month.

“There are many other updates coming in October to Microsoft Store with the latest version of Windows 11. Customers will have a new search experience inclusive of screenshot previews in Microsoft Store and Windows Search, and users will be able to easily restore their apps when transitioning to a new Windows 11 device,” Microsoft explains.

The support for ad integration into the Microsoft Store has also been announced, therefore letting devs create ad campaigns for the software they listed for download.
