Android OS has had a data saving option for quite some time now, and it has helped users monitor and restrict their data usage so that they wouldn't exceed limits set by their carrier plans. Apparently, Android 7.0 Nougat will be coming with new features for the Data Saver.

Google is looking to provide its Android users with more features and tools that they could use in order to constantly keep an eye on the amount of mobile data they're using. Android Central has reported that Android 7.0 Nougat will be boasting enhanced data saving capabilities.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow already offers data saving options, and users can set a limit to the data they're using over the period of one month and even restrict app background data, a feature that wasn't available in Android 5.0 Lollipop. Users can set a warning limit and a hard limit so that they wouldn't surpass their monthly allocated mobile data rate.

The Data Saver on Android 7.0 Nougat comes with new features

Android 7.0 Nougat will be coming with a feature that allows the Data Saver to check the plan the user is subscribed to and limit the amount of data that applications use in the background. It will also give users the option to whitelist any app they wish to exclude from the Data Saver.

The new feature will also detect whether the user is out of their home area or if they inserted a local prepaid SIM. The purpose of the new tools is to help users avoid hitting their data usage limits, rather than only restrict app access when that limit was hit.

The new features have been noticed in the Android Nougat SDK. Google is expected to start the global rollout of Android 7.0 Nougat soon, but until then, LG's V20 will be the first non-Nexus smartphone to come with the new OS out of the box. It will be announced on September 6.
