Google is already aware of the issue and a fix is coming

If you happen to own one of Google's new Nexus smartphones or the Nexus Player, the chances are that your device is affected by an Android bug that produces washed out colors on all three devices.

“As soon as the player starts playing a video (no matter which - either Netflix, Cast video, Archos, etc.) the black color gets washed out and gray instead of black. The color shift is noticeable only while playing a video.

“The issue is reproducible on all Android 6.0 preview releases including the final release - MRA58K build,” explains a user that owns a Nexus Player affected by this issue.

The issue appears to affect only hardware decided videos and that Kodi does not seem to show the bug even with hardware acceleration enabled.

Some say that the Shield TV is suffering from the same issue as well, along with Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X smartphones.

If your phone is affected by this issue, wait for an update

According to one Nexus 6P owner, the original MDA89D build did not have this issue, but upon flashing the latest 3 images, the bug started to affect his smartphone.

He also claims that the problem is worse on AMOLED screens since the RGB value 0/0/0 should turn the screen off completely, which doesn't happen in this case.

The issue was first reported by users in early October when it started to affect the Nexus Player. However, Google did not seem to be interested in fixing this bug until Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X were affected, too.

The good news is Google has already confirmed that it's aware of the bug and that it has already fixed it internally. The next thing the company should do is deliver the fix as an update to Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X owners.
