Panache Digital Games revealed a few more gameplay details about Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, the upcoming survival game from the mind of Patrice Désilets.

If you don’t know who Patrice Désilets is, that’s fine, but you should know that he’s basically the mind behind the Assassin's Creed series. He guided the series for three games, as creative director, but eventually left Ubisoft to make other games.

He eventually formed the Panache Digital Games and their first title is called Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey. The only gameplay revealed until now is from Africa, about 10 million years ago, but since the game has Odyssey in the name, there is no reason to think that it’s going to stop there.

New gameplay and mechanics

Since Patrice Désilets is the creator of this game, he’s also presenting much of the new stuff that’s revealed. In this latest trailer, he explains a little bit about the driving forces of the game, and it looks like, for the most part, it’s a survival experience.

Players control a human ancestor that’s not quite bipedal just yet in the African jungle. It’s up to the player to stay alive by satisfying three essential needs, water, sleep. and food. As you can imagine, the world is full of dangers, and surviving is an integral part of the experience.

But what the trailer didn’t reveal is what constitutes progression. There has to be something more than just surviving in Africa, but that’s not yet known. Besides this new trailer, a couple more are going to revealed soon, hopefully shedding some light.

For now, Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is scheduled for a 2019 release, for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. The game was initially revealed back in 2017 and it’s using the Unreal engine. Check out the trailer below.
