Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is set to arrive on August 27, 2019, for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

After leaving Ubisoft and subsequently the Assassin’s Creed franchise, Patrice Désilets started to work on a new project, and the community only heard rumors. After heading such a fantastic project, people were expecting something equally grand, and the result is a game called Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey.

Assassin’s Creed also dealt with some unlikely hypothesis about the evolution of the human race, but it was pure fiction. With Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, Patrice Désilets moves only to a more naturalistic explanation and allows players to experience first-hand the world through the eyes of human predecessors.

It’s just eight million years of evolution

One of the first things that players wanted to know was just how expansive the game really is. We’ve seen some gameplay, and the map seems to be quite large, with incredible variations, but only a sliver of time was covered.

“In Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, players are challenged to survive and evolve in the harsh yet beautiful land of Africa spanning from ten million to two million years ago. As humankind’s primate predecessors, players explore Neogene Africa, expand their territory, and evolve to advance their clan from one generation to the next in order to survive in this innovative take on the open world survival genre,” said the developers from Panache Digital Games.

This means that we won’t just have to settle playing with a single character. We will have the chance to go through numerous iterations of human predecessors, each with its needs, enemies, and goals.

Lastly, it’s worth noting that Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is going to be available on PC only through the Epic Games Store, and it will remain like that for an entire year. Other platforms will get it after.
