Another requested feature is Duo integration

Google released its latest application, Allo, earlier this month and it wasn't that well received by critics, although its number of downloads on the Play Store continues to increase. The app surpassed the 5 million downloads mark a few days ago, but its rating is lower than Duo's at 4.2 stars for the chat app, compared to 4.4 stars for the video calling application.

A quick glimpse at the user reviews in the Play store reveals that many users wish the application had more features, like Google voice support and SMS support. According to Phone Arena, Justin Uberti, a Google developer working on Allo, put together a list of received suggestions for features to be integrated into the app.

The list contains 7 items, the first of which is Assistant features. Allo comes with Google Assistant integration, which provides users with suggestions of replies, even to photos. While the feature is truly useful and helps users come up with replies more easily, it did cause some concerns.

Users requested quick replies, file sharing and themes

Back in May, when Google first announced Allo, the company said that messages wouldn't be stored on the company's servers, but Assistant needs as much information as it can get in order to function at optimal parameters. Instead, Google provided an Incognito mode with end-to-end encryption for messages, just like WhatsApp's default feature.

The second item on the list is a desktop Allo application, followed by Duo integration and file sharing. In addition, users requested quick replies, SMS support and additional themes that they would apply. There surely are more suggestions that didn't make the list, as Justin Uberti mentioned that he condensed the list to fit a single tweet.

It's unclear at this point whether Google will actually start working on these features and integrate them in an Allo update, so we'll just have to wait and see.
