The images are clearly sketchy and untrustworthy

Apple is said to be announcing the upcoming iPhone model in a matter of weeks and since it’s the biggest announcement from the company this year, rumors on the highly anticipated device continue to pour in.

The latest allegedly show a batch of images of the packaging for the upcoming smartphone and the product box seems to read iPhone 6 SE, as seen on Techtastic. This is where it gets confusing as recent rumors have shown that the name of the upcoming iPhone will be iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

This makes us wonder the reasons behind Apple’s decision to change the name of its flagship just weeks before release, as it would be an imprudent marketing and product management decision, to say the least. Although, a change in the name of an upcoming flagship would make waves in the market, we have to admit that this rumor is fake.

Aside from the fact that it doesn’t make any sense and images show clear inconsistencies, leakster Steve Hemmerstoffer shut the rumor down revealing that the photos are “200% fake” and photoshopped by one of his followers weeks ago. This makes sense considering that the 6 and SE items are positioned awkwardly on the product packaging and specs that would give credibility to the photos are redacted.

The next iPhone models could be announced on September 7

Apple is said to unveil the upcoming iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus on September 7 and the release date could be scheduled on September 16. This isn’t official yet, but it does show that the next iPhone will most likely come in the next few weeks.

The iPhone 7 Plus is said to come with a dual-camera setup, while the rear camera on the iPhone 7 won’t be left much behind, as it will adopt some features from the previous iPhone 6s Plus, including optical image stabilization. iPhone 7 Plus is also said to come with 3GB of RAM, up to 256GB of storage and Apple A10 processor.
