Only the latest Star Wars movie is in low-quality

The Oscars have come and gone, but behind them remain the traces left by pirates. In fact, all of the main Oscar nominees and winners are available for download and streaming on pirate sites.

The information comes from a piracy watcher Andy Baio, who created a Google spreadsheet to keep count of all the movies nominated for an Oscar this year. According to the file, all nominated films are available on pirate sites, most of them in high quality.

The spreadsheet is extremely detailed, containing the release dates of the movies and the Oscar screener release dates. It then goes on to mention whether the screener leaked by Oscars night, or whether the retail DVD is available online, as well as a high-quality copy. For the Cam leaks, there are dates available, as well as for most other types of leaks, where available, of course.

One exception

There is only one movie that hasn't made the list of leaked films - Star Wars: The Force Awakens, although in this case there is still a version available, but it's only a poor-quality cam.

One column that's particularly important on this list is the one pertaining to pirated screeners. These have been a major part of the Oscars for the past decade or so and it's quite ironic that they'd make it out into the world since they're only sent out to Academy members who vote for the Oscars.

Unlike in previous years, the first screeners didn't hit the BitTorrent world until early January. Before, this type of copies would always end up online by mid-December. This year, before the ceremony, out of the entire list, only 14 screeners landed online. It should be mentioned, however, that while screeners are pretty appreciated by pirates across the world, it seems there's no higher interest for them than for a good-quality copy.
