Windows Phone fans probably recall our previous reports about Alcatel’s upcoming high-end smartphone powered by Windows 10 Mobile, the Idol 4 Pro.

Alcatel has already announced a flagship smartphone powered by Android, the Idol 4S, and is likely to launch a mini version of the handset as well.

However, it looks like the Chinese company has decided to rebrand its Windows 10 Mobile smartphone and launch it under a different moniker.

In fact, MSPU reports the Windows 10 Mobile handset will have the same name as the Android flagship, Alcatel Idol 4S. The only difference will be the fact that it will be advertised as Alcatel Idol 4S with Windows 10, while the Android version will be sold as Alcatel Idol 4S.

The information comes weeks before the smartphone’s official unveiling, so any more changes are possible, so the new name might not be definitive.

The Windows 10 smartphone will be more powerful than the Android variant

One thing that is certain is that Windows 10 Mobile handset will be more powerful than the Android model if we take into consideration previous rumors regarding Idol 4S Pro’s specs sheet.

For example, Alcatel Idol 4S with Windows 10 will be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory. There’s no mention of microSD card slot yet, but we don’t rule out the addition of this feature.

Also, the smartphone will boast a large 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution. At the back, Alcatel’s flagship will pack a 21-megapxiel camera with autofocus, LED flash and 4K video recording, while in the front there’s a secondary 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

Alcatel Idol 4S with Windows 10 will be powered by a 3,000 mAh battery and should fully support Continuum for Phones. The smartphone is expected to arrive in the United States via major carrier T-Mobile. No word on price and availability at the moment.
