Microsoft took everyone by surprise earlier this year when it decided to sell the Samsung Galaxy S8 in its own stores, and now the software giant is taking the partnership with the South Korean firm even further by announced that Samsung’s QLED TVs become the official Xbox One X partner.

Basically, Microsoft explains in a press announcement that the Xbox One X, which the company claims is the only device offering what it calls “true” 4K UHD gameplay, can only reach its maximum potential with a very capable TV, and at this point, only Samsung can help it achieve this.

As a result, the QLED TVs manufactured by Samsung are the recommended companion devices for Xbox One X buyers, with Microsoft praising the 1,500 nits brightness, the 100 percent color volume and the accurate colors to highlight some of the key features of Samsung’s TVs.

Up for testing in Microsoft stores

“The arrival of true 4K UHD gameplay on the Xbox One X this Fall gives gamers the perfect reason to upgrade their television. If gamers are looking for a TV that delivers premium 4K HDR picture quality with industry leading design and smart functionality, then the QLED TV and Xbox One X are an unbeatable 4K gaming combination,” said Eddie Combs, Vice President of Marketing for Samsung Electronics America.

Xbox One X customers who purchase a Samsung QLED TV are provided with lifetime warranty against burn-ins, and this is particularly important for gamers given that the display is playing a key role in the overall experience they get when playing games.

Samsung’s new TVs will be available for testing in the South Korean company’s store, and at the same time, in Microsoft’s own locations where the Xbox One X will be available. For the moment, however, this mix is only offered to customers in the United States, and there’s no word as to whether Microsoft is planning a similar partnership for other markets across the world as well.
