Good news for Android fans in India looking for a cheap smartphone, as Panasonic has just released the wallet-friendly T33.

It's one of the cheapest handsets launched by the Japanese company in India, so just like every other affordable smartphone, it will sell very well in this country.

Speaking of which, Panasonic T33 is now available for purchase in India in Pearl White and Duke Blue color options, a new report confirms.

Customers who wish to grab the T33 will have to come up to only Rs 4,990 outright, which is about $80 or €70. However, there might be slightly better choices even at this price.

Unfortunately, the T33 sports a small 4-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 800 x 480 pixels resolution.

Also, the phone ships with an older Android 4.4 KitKat operating system right out of the box and it's likely to remain at this version until end of life.

No Lollipop for this low-end smartphone

We doubt that Panasonic will want to upgrade this cheap smartphone to Android 5.0 Lollipop, even though the phone might meet the minimum requirements.

Speaking of which, the T33 is equipped with a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory that can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

On the back, Panasonic's low-end smartphone packs a 3-megapixel camera with LED flash and video recording, while in the front there's a secondary VGA camera for video calls.

Last but not least, the T33 comes with dual-SIM support and features faux leather finish on the back cover. Those who get it will also receive a free screen protector in the box.

“The T33 smartphone has been developed and designed to overcome the fundamental problem of language barriers faced across India by giving them an option to choose from various languages to interact, engage, entertain and connect in their preferred language.

“We are sure that adding support for local language in the device will give an opportunity to our customers to communicate seamlessly,” said Manish Sharma, MD, Panasonic India.
