Newcomers to Android ecosystem and those who can't afford to purchase a more expensive smartphone will be pleased to know that Lava has just released one of the cheapest Lollipop handsets available on the Indian market, the Iris Atom 2X.

The sequel to the Iris Atom 2, the latest affordable smartphone launched by Lava is now available for purchase across all major online retailers across the country.

According to a new report, customers can now purchase the Lava Iris Atom 2X for just Rs 4,499, which is about $65 or €55 outright. The smartphone is available in both black and white color options.

Besides the low price, Iris Atom 2X's main selling point is the fact that it comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box.

While there's no chance that such a low-end smartphone will receive a Marshmallow upgrade in the future, Android Lollipop is still a great OS for such an affordable handset.

No 4G LTE support, but dual-SIM included

The rest of the specs included in the Lava Iris Atom 2X are pretty much standard for an entry-level smartphone. For example, the handset comes with a 4.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports FWVGA (854 x 480 pixels) resolution.

On the inside, the smartphone comes equipped with a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, coupled with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

Obviously, the phone doesn't offer 4G LTE support, but Lava has confirmed Iris Atom 2X features both dual-SIM support and 3G connectivity.

At the back, the entry-level Android smartphone features a 5-megapixel photo snapper with LED flash and video recording, while in the front there's a secondary VGA camera for selfies and video calls.

Last but not least, Lava Iris Atom 2X drains energy from a 2,000 mAh battery and offers both FM Radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and microUSB 2.0 features.
