Flash Player has already been discontinued on December 31

Adobe officially retired Flash Player on December 31, and now the company is blocking all content by default for all users out there.

In other words, if you’re still having Flash Player installed on the device, though you really shouldn’t, Adobe blocks the loading of content automatically, no matter what you do.

This is something that makes perfect sense given Flash Player is no longer supported, and the majority of browsers out there, including popular choices like Google Chrome, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge, have already pulled support for this software.

Adobe too announced that Flash Player no longer loads beginning January 12, and now warnings are displayed on some computers to make sure users are aware of what’s happening.

“Since Adobe no longer supports Flash Player after December 31, 2020 and blocked Flash content from running in Flash Player beginning January 12, 2021, Adobe strongly recommends all users immediately uninstall Flash Player to help protect their systems. Some users may continue to see reminders from Adobe to uninstall Flash Player from their system,” the company says.

Blocking content, the only way to go

Adobe says that blocking Flash Player from the get-go on devices where this abandoned product is still installed is the only way to keep them secure. Otherwise, if Flash Player is loaded, these devices are exposed to exploits trying to abuse vulnerabilities that aren’t getting any patches.

“After the EOL Date, Adobe will not issue Flash Player updates or security patches. Adobe strongly recommends immediately uninstalling Flash Player. To help secure your system, Adobe blocked Flash content from running in Flash Player beginning January 12, 2021. Major browser vendors have disabled and will continue to disable Flash Player from running. Since Adobe is no longer supporting Flash Player after the EOL Date, Adobe blocked Flash content from running in Flash Player beginning January 12, 2021 to help secure your system.  Flash Player may remain on your system unless you uninstall it,” it says.

All users are now strongly recommended to uninstall Flash Player as soon as possible.
