A new version of Flash Player is now up for grabs

Adobe has just rolled out an updated version of Flash Player that brings security fixes and performance improvements to supported platforms.

Adobe hasn’t yet provided a change log for Flash Player 19.0.0.207, as the company has just posted the new version on its servers, but expect more information to surface in the coming hours.

Since it’s Patch Tuesday, Flash Player 19.0.0.207 should come with fixes for the found security vulnerabilities, which makes this version a must-have for everyone out there who wants to view Flash content online using Adobe’s solution.

Microsoft and Adobe roll out security updates for their software on the second Tuesday of each month, so it makes sense for this new Flash Player version to patch security holes spotted in the last 30 days. Flash Player is generally referred to as one of the most vulnerable software solutions on the market, so it’s critical to its future to get patched as soon as possible.

The death of Flash Player

And yet, it’s also no secret that some companies are fighting to get rid of Flash Player because of these security issues and the performance problems that it might cause on both servers and clients.

Video sharing service YouTube was one of the first to give up on Flash Player and enable HTML5 as default, while some other software companies are also working on alternative software that could replace Adobe’s at some point in the future. Mozilla, for instance, is working on Project Shumway, which might become a faster and more secure replacement for Adobe Flash Player and which might be directly integrated into Firefox browser.

We're still far from the death of Flash Player though, no matter what some people say, and it will take years until this finally happens. But in the meantime, you should really stay patched, so just download Adobe Flash Player 19.0.0.207 right now to make sure you are on the safe side.
